Really sad news about Jonathan Pitre. What a tough life the little guy had.

The Senators need to lose one of their final two games to finish in 30th. This would guarantee them no worse than the 5th pick in the upcoming draft.

These games appear to matter to both Pittsburgh and Boston who are fighting for playoff positioning. So both those teams should be playing a full lineup.

Sad to hear.

For the Penguins, this will be their last game of the season and a win will assure they have home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs, whether they face the Devils or Blue Jackets

Philly also might be a possible first round opponent for the pens that can't be ruled out (with home ice for the pens). It mean NJ and CLB both dropping their final games and PHI getting 2 pts.

How about you send us matthews for pitt's 1st, a 3rd, and pageau

I'd say fairly similar awful trade proposals

Agreed. Leafs aren't getting him.

This org has gone through so much heartache the last couple years, with Murray and now Pitre passing on, Richardsons daughter, etc. If there is a hockey god, I'm hoping clearer skies are ahead and that the core of this group can stay together.

I'm holding onto a glimmer of hope that if PD doesn't get a quality offer at the draft and EK resists an extension, that he can at least agree in principle to a sign-and-trade to increase value and return.

That was a (frank)ing dirty play by Malkin.. ......soooooo dangerous. I've had a couple if buddies get hurt bad on those open door type plays

While it would be great to see Karlsson play out his career as a Senator, Ottawa will not be a serious Stanley Cup contender for the next 2-3 years while Karlsson is in his prime.
At this point, I'm hoping for a great outcome for Karlsson and a great outcome for the team. A sign and trade or contract extension discussions pre-trade should be real possibility.

Right? I don't know why he and Crosby seem to get up to play this way against the Sens...

I'd borderline say could be suspendable, especially with the hit from behind after. What if Smith had gone face first into the boards and smashed his face? Or if he had pulled a Crosby/Methot and broke his finger with that slash?

Smith should have gotten 2 minutes for the punch.

Malkin usually isn't that bad for stuff like that, Crosby is worse. One of the dirtiest players in the league and gets away with it over and over again.
